Château Palmer 3ème Cru Classé, Margaux, 2006

The 2006 Palmer is more muscular than the estate's typical Margaux expression, the dark fruit concentration and coffee-like richness of the vintage coming through with real force. And yet there is no shortage of Palmer's characteristic elegance: the red-fruit perfume is delicate and attractive, the acidity fresh and lifting, the tannins fine with that distinctive velvety grip that the estate's finest wines always possess. Critics awarded 93 points, and those who know Palmer well understand what this address achieves even in years that do not quite reach the summit.
